Although it may never be “fun,” AccuCount wants to make your tax preparation as smooth and easy as possible.  With our organizational checklists, convenient appointment times and our No-Appointment Return services, your taxes can be prepared with ease.  We are an authorized e-file provider – including available states – to allow for expedited refunds and filings.

Most Booster Clubs have three primary areas of concern.  First, they must maintain their non-profit status for tax and donation purposes.  Second, they need to remove the risk of forgotten accounting and management tasks.  Third, they need to allow their volunteers to maximize their time and energy for the kids rather than for administration.

Booster Clubs are non-profit corporations and corporations have rules at both the State and Federal level.  State registration and timely tax filings are mission-critical to maintaining your non-profit status and your ability to accept donations.

Forgotten or poorly done management tasks can put the Club’s non-profit status at risk.  A new Club Treasurer two weeks into her volunteer term when she discovered that the Club hadn’t filed a tax return for almost three years.  The three-year mark is an important one to the IRS.  When any non-profit hasn’t completed their filings for three years, the non-profit status is automatically revoked.  Often, the Club becomes unaware of this due to changes of address and the challenge of receiving mail through the school.  The Club continues to operate, but the reality is that they can’t accept donations.  This means that your fundraising efforts and donations are taxable income and your donors do not have the benefit of a charitable deduction.  Since the Club problem was detected before the filing deadline for the third year, Spirit Business Solutions was able to compile records, prepare financial reports, file the tax returns and protect its non-profit status.  We were subsequently able to help the Club receive relief from the full tax penalties they were exposed to.

Labor organizer Elizabeth Andrews once said, “Parent volunteers want to help their kids, not be administrators.”.  Booster Clubs are usually run by parent volunteers who have limited time to give and have limits on the time frame in which they serve.  Parents and volunteers come into a Club when their kids participate in the activity sponsored by the Club.  They are subject to “hand-offs” from another parent and barely have time to get organized before they must manage the next event.

Services Offered:

Registered Agent Service (in states available):
We keep your state corporate status current and serve as the point of contact and delivery for any official documents.

Bookkeeping Services:
We provide monthly, quarterly or annual financial reporting depending on your needs.  We currently use QuickBooks Online so that you have real-time access to your records.

Tax Preparation Services:
We complete the annual filing of the appropriate Form 990 as well as Forms 1099 and W-2.  We can also provide full payroll services for employee payments and tax deposits.

Vault Services:
We maintain copies of your records and reporting to allow for continuity between volunteers and years.  When we prepare your financial and tax records, this is not an additional paid service.  We will keep all your records for seven years.  If you wish to maintain your own records and use or storage service only, there is an annual fee.
